What time is it?

Adventure Time! Anyone who knows me kind of well knows that I'm a super huge fan of cartoons.

I saw this short a few years ago and really loved it. So when I heard that it could potentially become a full-fledged cartoon I was super excited and I've been following the blog for the studio that produces it. It's a very silly/quirky show. Not for everyone mind, but I'm a little strange myself so this sort of thing appeals to me.

Here's a link for the Cartoon Network site. It's algebraic! Or totally rhombus depending on how you feel.

Muppet Madness

People who dislike muppets altogether are people that I not want to know! General ambivalence is fine though, but I'm a big fan of most everything that's ever come out of Henson Studios. So when I heard that the Smithsonian's Henson exhibit would be stopping at the Mississippi Museum of Art inJackson, MS you can bet I was down like a clown for that.
On the whole I thought the exhibit was really wonderful. It focused on Henson's body of work, not just the obvious hits of the Muppet Show and Sesame Street.
The exhibit featured not only muppets but numerous pieces of concept art for actual puppets and storyboards for commercials and movie shorts.
At regular intervals throughout the exhibit you could sit and watch commercials and behind the scenes footage of the shows.
My favorite commercial was one for the La choy Dragon. Adorably ridiculous dragon tears up a grocery store and advertises bad chinese food in a can!

What impressed me the most about the whole exhibit was the glimpse into the scope of Henson's imagination. I think an imagination is a beautiful thing. The fact that he was able to share his imagination with so many people and touch so many people's lives with his work is incredible.

Curse This Tweeking!

"Curses I say," as I silently hoped my post title font would desist being the poo brown color it preferred.
I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of learning new technology. Now mind you, I know it's good for me, but there's always that wall of resistance I have to overcome. Generally it involves forced entry. So far so good so good though. I'll probably always be a bigger fan of the good ol' fashioned way of writing stuff down on paper manually, but hey that's just me. Right now I am experimenting in the land of getting this darn thing to look how I want it to look. Once everything is appropriately formatted and packaged then I'll start making some serious posts full of serious, serious internet blogging business!
Posts about what? Well after much deliberation, I've decided to blog about art and what inspires my own cannon of creativity. So this means posts about:

  • Reviews of exhibits, movies, and books
  • Pictures that inspire me and possibly my own stuff that I create from seeing it
  • Projects! Always fun. This will vary to whatever projects currently on my mind!
  • Other stuff!

That's the general idea. I was intending to build a website soon anyway. I have some ideas for projects in the work. I would say more but I'd like to launch it first before announcing my plans.

So it is! Stay tuned for more stuff!
